I used Berger primer as well with one of these

Where did you get the sand paper? How was the finish? Were you satisfied?

pugboy wrote:it might be a lot easier and time saving to use a piece of concrete block to rub off the plaster sand
then run a thin layer of gypsum mud over the wall.
if you know how to mud, it could be done very fast and dries in less than a day.

Don't really know how to mud, right now I'm using a sharpening stone to smooth the wall.

^ a piece of concrete block is the easiest thing and cheapest thing to use depending on the finish you want
as for concrete primer, we bought the kaleidoscope in the 5gal pails, it was the cheapest at the time....

as for paint...if u could afford it bro.....use one of those foreign brand paints....
wait for sherwin williams to have a sale and get ur paint if it falls in good time..you will see and feel the difference....their paint is really unbelievable compared to local...

dont put the gypsum mud on ur walls, did that it will help hide plastering flaws....
interior will last longer but lets say u stick up a picture or something, when u taking it down, the paint will peel off as well
if done outside its worse after a yr or 2 with the moisture and water from rain etc, it will literally peel off

Sandpaper from Home Store. Was cheaper online but wanted it immediately.

Sander removes all rough surface imperfections. Digs or marks will still need to be filled and sanded of course. Rough marks from floating removed in one pass and smooth to touch.

I like my arms too much to use stone or brick.

Pricemart units looks good.

I got a basic black and Decker and it's working for years of beating on it.

I'm looking for some good prices on welding tools - c-clamps, sheet metal clamps, helmet, gloves...mainly for stick welding.
Vise-Grips on amazon look nice, are they available down here for a comparable price?

It's a lot of weight to bring down via skybox.

You can get most clamps / gloves etc down here at competitive prices, just shop around.

SSL, Bhagwansinghs and Allied Home Store are good places to start. I got all my welding gear from between them.

Don't forget proper eye and ear protection for cutting and grinding.
Bought a pair of nice long gloves by Edoo's yesterday for $90. It seems more durable than the pair I bought at Bhags. Can't go wrong with a auto-darkening helmet! Its the best!
I have this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005PU ... refresh_T1
Luckily I got it for US$90 at the time.

Thanks guys, I'll rather invest into proper tools and do it myself than pay some welder to halfass my jobs again.

same thing here, thanks to a clown welder I bought a machine and learnt myself
some old hardware places have clamps parked up long time at old prices

wearing ear plugs makes a huge difference when cutting/grinding
you don't feel the fatigue later on

Yeah, I have lots of earplugs around.
I fedup with the less than stellar work I'm getting. I'm not trained but I did minor welding already: gate, burglar proof, gate track; and I know I can do better work myself than what I'm getting.

I'm gonna learn to put up my own shed roof and do my own burglar proofing, work bench and decorative wrought iron works.

99% of so called welders have no idea what they are doing
The mere fact that they use 6013 rods says a lot
