Thing is I think it's really not that hard to kill someone in Trinidad.
Someone just had a few guns and used the element of surprise. I think the average person could have organized that hit

True but look at the care taken to select a place where no Cameras were located.

Also the fact that she was stalked carefully before

Finally those residents would have called police immediately. And as a Avenue limer there are always police out patrolling.

The fact that they got away means the way was deliberately kept clear.

Finally for no arrest to be made yet means that even more pay-off's were made.

We know that this was carefully planned not only because it was successfully carried out but because they were able to escape and to remain at large for so long!

It was right in view of several cameras. I wonder why the footage has never been released?

A number of the residents in close proximity seem to have migrated; "For Sale" signs all over the place. Coincidence?

Is it not possible for one of the people release a statement of why they have migrated? IE was it by choice, by force, by payment etc? All under anonymity of course as it would be interesting to hear why

I highly doubt people migrating is some conspiracy. People leaving Trinidad in droves because of the amount of sheit that goes on here. This incident being one of many.

Acting CoP’s plea to media: Stop counting murder days

The media should stop counting down the number of days since Dana Seetahal was killed as that will not help speed up the investigation, says acting Police Commissioner Stephen Williams. Speaking at a post-Eid-ul-Fitr function yesterday at Police Administrative Building, Port-of-Spain, Williams urged the media to be sensitive to Seetahal’s family. Yesterday marked 100 days since the former independent senator was murdered. Eid-ul-Fitr was observed by the Muslim community on July 29.

Responding to questions on the status of the Seetahal investigation after the function, Williams said the constant display in the media of how many days had passed since her death was not sensitive to the grieving relatives. Williams asked the public to have some sensitivity to the family. “She was close to me so it was painful to me as a person who is not even a relative, so I wonder if you gave any consideration to the issue of the family,” Williams said.

He said the investigation was ongoing and reminded the media he had declared the investigation the number one priority of the Police Service. Williams said investigators believed they would make an arrest which would lead to a conviction, having received assistance from international bodies as well as many local law enforcement officers.

Several units from different specialised units, including the Homicide Bureau, Criminal Intelligence and Gang Unit, Special Branch and Cyber Crime Unit, assisted by analysts from the Federal Bureau of Investigations, are among the team assigned to the investigation. Last week Williams said: “With regard to Dana Seetahal, inquires are in progress and we will see light beyond the tunnel in that matter in the near future.”

A record $3.5 million has been offered for information leading to the arrest and successful conviction of those involved in the murder has not provided any useful tips. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-8477 or 627-0408.

Family response
In a statement to the T&T Guardian to mark 100 days since her death, Seetahal’s sister, Susan Francois, the director of the Financial Intelligence Unit, said the family remained “numb in disbelief” and was having difficulties in coping with the loss.

“It is 100 days since Dana Saroop Seetahal, our sister and aunt, was suddenly and brutally taken from us and her murderers are still free. It is like swallowing a bitter pill. We still ask ourselves why? And will she get the justice she deserves? For us, it is a horrifying nightmare from which we cannot awake,” she added. Seetahal’s nephew, Devanan Persad, said his aunt strived for equality and justice for all and would have wanted her murder solved with the same expediency.

The killing
On the night of May 3, Seetahal left the Ma Pau casino car park on French Street, Port-of-Spain, a place she frequented, before driving onto Wrightson Road and later turning north onto Hamilton Holder Street, Woodbrook, en route to her One Woodbrook Place apartment.

Just after midnight as she neared the Woodbrook Youth Facility, her vehicle was blocked and a gunman shot her five times at close range through the driver’s side window. Her killers were so close that gunpowder residue was found on her clothing and face. She died instantly. Police found 5.56 ammunition shells at the scene, leading investigators to conclude there were at least two shooters.

Dana’s killer unmasked

http://www.guardian.co.tt/news/2014-08- ... r-unmasked

The man who pumped five bullets, at close range, into the head and body of Senior Counsel Dana Seetahal has been identified as one of three men killed in a police shootout at Freeport on Wednesday. Senior police officers who are directly involved in Seetahal’s murder probe confirmed yesterday that David “Junior” Baker, 28, was one of the key suspects involved in the well-planned assassination.

The officers spoke on the strict condition of anonymity as they were not authorised to disclose the sensitive information relating to the case. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Glenn Hackett offered no comment when questioned about Baker’s involvement in Seetahal’s murder yesterday. But police said Baker’s death has not seriously impacted on their investigations into the murder.

Commenting on the development, Seetahal’s sister, Susan Francois, the director of the Financial Intelligence Unit, said: “If he (Baker) was one of the person’s involved then I would hope the police would move speedily to get the others involved and bring them to justice. “Do they want a repeat of the Selwyn Richardson result?” she asked. Richardson, 59, a former attorney general and minister of national security, was shot dead by two hitmen in his Cascade driveway on June 20, 1995.

Two men identified as his assassins, Jamaat al Muslimeen members Abdul Quadir and Curtis Felix, were both themselves murdered days after Richardson’s killing. No one has ever been brought to justice for Richardson’s killing. Seetahal, 58, who worked closely with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions as the lead prosecutor for several high-profile cases, was ambushed shorly after midnight on May 4 along Hamilton Holder Street, Woodbrook, as she made her way to her One Woodbrook Place apartment.

She also worked closely with the United States Embassy giving advice on key proposals to reform the criminal justice system. Seetahal’s murder sent shockwaves across the criminal justice system, crippling key office-holders with fear and prompting acting Commissioner of Police Stephen Williams to assemble one of the most diverse and experienced investigative teams to solve it. Williams is on record as saying Seetahal’s murder is the number one priority of the Police Service.

The team includes personnel from the Homicide Bureau, Criminal Gang Intelligence Unit, Cyber Crime Unit, Special Branch and the Strategic Services Agency. The investigators are being assisted by data analysts and other technical experts, including agents from the United States’s Federal Bureau of Investigations and other experts from the United Kingdom. Within hours of Seetahal’s murder CrimeStoppers offered a $1 million bounty for information leading to the successful arrest and prosecution of those responsible for her murder. That figure was increased to $3.5 million by the Government. That reward remains unclaimed.

Details of Hit
Investigations have so far revealed that Seetahal was followed after she left the Ma Pau casino on Tragarete Road, Woodbrook, and was ambushed near the Woodbrook Youth Facility and killed.

Police said a panel van, which had been parked near the Woodbrook Youth Facility, blocked her path, and two men, one armed with an assault rifle and another with a handgun, walked up to her Volkswagen Touareg.

The man with the machine gun fired several shots in the air, leaving behind close to 15 spent 5.56 ammunition shells, while the other, now identified as Baker, stood near the driver’s door and fired repeatedly at his target.

Forensic analysis of the scene revealed that the shots were fired so close that gunpowder residue was found on Seetahal’s face and clothing.

Two questions :
Who organized this killing?
And to achieve what goal?

Because answering those questions may lead to other assassinations being stopped
