But for those who are asking why there aren't any Muslim voices against this, are you all in an active position to hear these voices? Just relying on the press is not enough, if there may be voices the press would hardly repeat them.

Point taken.

But there were those who protested outside OPM's office for action to be taken and they got coverage and as well there are the local facebook groups who are pretty vocal on numerous matters (mostly Gaza though). Maybe the moderates can utilize the same measures??

Its in their interest to bring their religion out in a better light to the rest of the population.

New ISIS Propaganda Video May Feature Latest American Recruit
BY CASSANDRA VINOGRAD

“Look at the little children,” the gun-toting militant tells the camera, bouncing a child on his hip. “They’re having fun.”

A new Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) propaganda video featuring an alleged American citizen has been released online, underscoring the deepening concerns over the Western fighters flocking to Syria to take up arms.

Heartbroken Parents: Our Daughter Became a 'Bedroom Radical'NBC NEWS

Released to celebrate the Eid al-Fitr holiday marking the end of Ramadan’s month-long fast, the video doubles as a recruitment tool for the militants who recently declared a caliphate, or Islamic state, across a swath of territory stretching from Syria into Iraq.

Text bearing “Eid Greetings from the Land of Khilafah” pops up throughout the video. Most of the 20-minute release, however, features fighters claiming to be from countries including Finland, Belgium, Indonesia, South Africa and the U.S. urging their countrymen to come join them and reap the benefits of living in the caliphate.

“I’m feeling like I’m still dreaming - I’m thinking like I’m in a dream world,” the so-called American fighter says. He is identified in the video as Abu Abdurahman al-Trinidi, an American, but whose nom de guerre suggests he at least spent time in or originated from Trinidad.

“You have to be here to understand what I’m saying,” he adds, amid a sea of guns. “If you stay away you will not understand.”

It’s not clear where exactly the video was taped, though the fighters make reference to "the land of Sham," a term used to describe Syria and portions of neighboring countries. When asked about the video on Monday, the State Department said it was looking into the matter.

The threat of radicalized and battle-hardened Westerners returning from Syria and Iraq to carry out attacks on their home soil has been deemed the biggest security challenge for counter-terrorism officials since the 9/11 attacks. While the exact number of foreign fighters associated with ISIS is unknown, two recent studies put the figure above 10,000 - with about 3,000 coming from Western European countries.

That includes “dozens of Americans,” according to Attorney General Eric Holder. He recently described the proliferation of foreign fighters as “a global threat in need of a global solution” and stressed that the world “cannot simply sit back and let it become a training ground from which our nationals can return and launch attacks.”

Experts say the rapid advance of ISIS has created an online buzz that is “very attractive” to potential foreign fighters – and the release of slick propaganda videos featuring English-speaking jihadists are part of a sophisticated media strategy aimed at boosting the ranks of those fighters.

“Believers – all Muslim world – please. This is a call for you,” the alleged American says in the latest video. “Look all the little children, they are having fun.”

The video he features in was released Saturday and bears the stamp of the Al Hayet Media Center. While Al Hayet is not formally associated with ISIS, it is one of a few media organizations promoted by the militants on their own social media accounts.

“The significant thing about it seems to be that there are a raft of people from so many nations,” said Raffello Pantucci, a senior research fellow at the London-based Royal United Services Institute, citing other recent releases of videos featuring Britons and Australian fighters. “They’re very keen to emphasize the fact that they’ve got a really multinational group that is fighting for them, that they’re building a real caliphate, that this is a truly global movement and therefore should draw people from around the world.”

One of the men pictured in the video released Saturday identifies himself as British and says in English that he doesn’t “think there’s anything better” than life in the caliphate.

“You’re not living under oppression ... You’re living by the Quran,” he tells the camera in English. “As Muslims that’s all we want and that’s all we need. We don’t need any democracy, we don’t need any communism, we don’t need anything like that – all we need is Shariah [Islamic law]."

While some analysts recognized that British fighter from Twitter, the majority of the faces in the latest video appear to be new to the propaganda machine and part of a deliberate attempt at demonstrating the group’s reach.

“The fact that there are new faces is important in that it kind of serves as a constant reminder that it’s very difficult to keep track of who’s over there and who’s going over there,” said Charlie Cooper, a researcher at the Quilliam Foundation, a London-based anti-extremist think tank. “They’re going to show off about the foreign fighters they do have, particularly the ones from the West, because that’s most valuable. It's more exciting and more of a coup if they get someone who is from America or the U.K.”

Western intelligence and law enforcement have stressed the difficulty in tracking fighters traveling to and from the U.S. and Syria - a point underscored by the release last week of video showing the first American believed to have carried out a suicide attack in Syria. That video – released by the al Qaeda-backed group al-Nusrah Front – purports to show Moner Mohammad Abusalha burning his passport and issuing threats against the West.

Law enforcement officials have told NBC News that Abusalha was able to travel back and forth between the U.S. and Syria, visiting Florida for several months in 2013 in attempts to recruit friends as fighters.

About 300 fighters have already returned to Britain from Syria, according to officials. Some fighters already have carried out attacks in Europe - a French national who fought in Syria is suspected of killing four tourists at the Jewish museum in Brussels in May - while dozens of arrests have been made of individuals accused of receiving training on the battleground and recruiting fighters for ISIS.

English speakers, in particular, are of “immense propaganda value” to ISIS, according to Cooper.

“To have someone who is allegedly a U.S. citizen calling for others to come to the caliphate is a big thing,” said Cooper. “Its a propaganda coup.”

Still, Cooper noted that ISIS appear to be taking a dual-track approach to the propaganda - some videos aimed at fighters, others aimed at encouraging all Muslims - not just fighters - to come to the caliphate and populate the Islamic state.

“In my whole life I never felt like a Muslim as I do now,” a fighter with the nom de guerre Abu Hanifah al-Belgiki - reportedly from Belgium - tells the camera in the latest release. “We are living here wonderfully in great happiness. We actually can wish for nothing more.”

Smiling and laughing children flash on the screen, riding merry-go-rounds and playing bumper cars - all part of projecting the idea that ISIS has created a utopia for Muslims and all should come.

Another fighter claiming to be South African points to the little girl in his arms, his fifth daughter, as he stresses that “there is no place in the world at the moment where you will have such safety” for family.

A man with what appears to be ammunition strapped to his chest distributes toys to flocks of small children, who grab then wave their toy water pistols in the air excitedly as a teen waves the black banner of ISIS next to them.

As the video draws to a close, the message is spelled out clearly, in delicate cursive: “I wish you were here.”

Pete Williams, Cynthia McFadden and Robert Windrem of NBC News contributed to this report.

Al Qaeda in search of its 'own territory' in India

India has stepped up security after al Qaeda announced the formation of a local wing. But as analyst Gauri Khandekar tells DW, the militant group is in reality seeking recruits rather than launching a new branch.

Image

In a video posted online, al Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri announced it had created an Indian branch and promised to spread Islamic rule and "raise the flag of jihad" across the "Indian subcontinent" and Myanmar. Indian authorities said they were taking the move seriously and put several states on high alert on September 4.

In the meantime, the announcement was hailed by a new breakaway faction of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) called Jamat-ul-Ahrar. "We believe that the branch will work hard for the achievement of the rights of Muslims in the subcontinent," the splinter group's spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan, said in a message posted on Twitter and Facebook.

Analysts say al Qaeda has been increasingly overshadowed by 'Islamic State', a renegade offshoot of the terror group which has managed to capture vast territory in Syria and Iraq and inspired thousands of fighters to join its jihadist mission.

So far, terror threats In India have largely come from neighboring Pakistan and Kashmir, the disputed Himalayan region. Gauri Khandekar, head of the Asia Program at the European think tank FRIDE, says in a DW interview that while there is no presence of AQ presence in the subcontinent, the organization wants to take advantage of the large and young Muslim population in the region.

DW: How credible are the al Qaeda chief's claims of expansion and the creation of an Indian branch?

Gauri Khandekar: This is indeed worrisome. It has been said that al Qaeda (AQ) is trying to compete with IS for recruits and funding, but what has not been said is that the network is also differentiating itself from IS geographically. AQ does not want to compete with IS for territory, so it is trying to claim its own "territory of action" and channeling an undisclosed amount of its resources on the Indian subcontinent, especially as foreign troops prepare to leave Afghanistan.

This move is particularly worrying even though it was expected that terrorists and South Asian terror groups - who migrated to AQ during the Afghanistan war - would return to their original focus, which is Kashmir, India. Although AQ has been weakened, it could set off random attacks just to prove their claim is credible.

How have Indian authorities reacted to the video message?

India's Intelligence Bureau (IB) announced that the video was authentic. After meeting with top officials, the country's Home Minister Rajnath Singh issued an alert to all states and security agencies. The Home Ministry also asked the IB for an assessment report on AQ's presence in the country, which is set to be delivered in a day or two.

There is already a large presence of terrorists and militant groups in the region. On top of that, we have indications of a small yet growing number of radicalized Indian youth, some of whom have gone to Iraq and Syria to join IS, while others have been fighting in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Is there any evidence that al Qaeda is being supported by any groups in India or has any operatives there?

Not until now despite the network's previous efforts. However, it is important to point out that AQ's focus on India is not new. While they were largely perceived as focusing on the United States, various threats to India were made following Osama bin Laden's declaration in 1996. AQ is said to have had links to terrorists and other extremist factions operating in Kashmir and elsewhere in India via Pakistan-based groups.

Furthermore, there are a number of established Islamic terror groups active in India such as the India-based Indian Mujahideen (IM), the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), the Hizbul-Mujahideen, Jaish-e-Mohammad, Harkat-e-Mujahideen, Al Badr and others, who have their own agendas and leadership.

Some of these organizations were set up even before al Qaeda was founded and most have the Kashmir separatism issue at heart. The largest among them - IM and LeT - have also declared the same goals as AQ, namely the establishment of an Islamic caliphate in South Asia and the imposition of Sharia Law.

These groups normally claim responsibility for terror attacks in India, so it is unlikely that they would want to share the credit with al Qaeda or come under its branch, unless they receive major resources from AQ.

According to Indian security forces, AQ's India operations will be handled by an IM splinter group based in Pakistan. Pakistani top AQ operative Asim Umar was named as the operational commander of the branch. It is more likely that they will seek new recruits. So we can see the latest video more in the context of AQ announcing vacancies rather than launching a new branch.

The militant group promised to "storm your barricades with cars packed with gunpowder." Why would al Qaeda choose the Indian subcontinent as a target for terrorist acts?

There are several reasons for this. First, the South and Southeast Asia regions have three times more Muslims than the Middle East. India alone has around 175 million Muslims - 15 percent of its population - making it the third largest Muslim-populated country worldwide. AQ wants to take advantage of this and the fact that South Asia also has a largely young population.

Symptoms showing up in Morvant area

Approximately 12 people in Morvant have been showing symptoms of the chikungunya (ChikV) virus and one has already been confirmed, councillor for the area Franz Lambkin said yesterday.

Lambkin was speaking to the media during a tour of jurisdictions under the San Juan Laventille Regional Corporation (SJLRC).

The media were taken around the area to view the corporation’s efforts at clearing overgrown lots and destroying mosquito breeding grounds.

Express visited the Lower Morvant Extension area where Lambkin said most of the suspected and confirmed cases of both chikungunya and dengue fever had occurred, and spoke to the affected residents.

Keisha Adams, whose two children are among those with symptoms and whose nephew was the confirmed case of ChikV, pleaded for spraying to be done in the area.

Adams said members of the community have been vigilant in keeping their yards clean and had cut grass around their homes to assist in the fight against the dangerous mosquitoes, but they needed the representatives for the area to do their part.

“When we call our councillors and ask if they could come and spray, we getting a set of runaround. Neighbours have been calling for weeks and begging and pleading. We have children to worry about. It is unfair that we have to beg like this to get assistance.” Adams said.

Adams said it was difficult to watch her children in pain and not being able to help them.

Destra Jacob-Sheppard, whose two children were diagnosed with dengue fever, also pleaded with the authorities to spray the area before more people are affected.

Lambkin said he had contacted the Chief Medical Officer several weeks ago with his concerns but had received no feedback.

“I contacted the CMO three weeks ago and invited him to come to do some spraying here and, to date, we have gotten no response.”

The SJLRC has since taken matters into its own hands and begun source-reduction exercises in the area.

These faggots who want to play kant have innocent men getting pull out of line for questioning. On my way back from work I got stopped by a US official in Qatar and was questioned for 30mins about my recent trip to Saudi Arabia. When I got to Houston I was pulled aside again and asked the same questions again, i guess looking for consistency. This has been happening almost every trip since that Venezuela BS played off.

I really have to start telling them how I really feel about Islam and religion on a whole... bunch a facking wankers.

Yes, all that to say i went Saudi.

Problem is that to many, allegiance to faith trumps allegiance to fellow man/greater society.

The Islamic faith seems to have an internal politics with a morality all it's own oui.... and i've even heard that many Muslims believe they are given the right to outright lie to us, the "Infidels."

So where does that leave us?

So RASC and Habit7 etc, Rowley basically blasts TT support for the war on terror...he can't be serious?...he wants to be a leader?

http://www.newsday.co.tt/news/0,200944.html

Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley yesterday lambasted Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar for Trinidad and Tobago’s co-sponsorship of a United Nations Security Council resolution on the fight against terrorism saying it was best for TT to have passed up on the occasion.

TT cannot afford to declare war on terrorists “at a time when you can stay away, ” Rowley said.

The resolution, supported by over 90 countries on Wednesday, was put to the UN Security Council by US President Barrack Obama in New York.

Rowley addressed constituents last evening at the People’s National Movement St Ann’s East Constituency annual conference at the San Juan North Secondary School in Bourg Mulatresse on a range of issues.

On the issue of TT supporting the resolution in the fight against terrorism, Rowley said “in any international issue, you put Trinidad and Tobago interest first.”

When people behead someone “little Trinidad and Tobago has to be careful to walk among the gears and don’t get crushed,” he said. He said when the backlash comes from TT’s sponsorship “they (current administration) know they will not be here to take it.”

In his hour-long address, Rowley never addressed the issue of Thursday night’s shootings in Laventille in which three men were killed and two others injured, and a subsequent shooting attack on the Besson Street Police.

Well yeah Rowley making wrong calls once in while, sometimes just oppositing for opposing sake. This is nothing strange for KPB who opposed CEPEP a and Chinese labour but now using them more than those she opposed.

But this govt not really serious with militant Islam. While the US spying intensely at any local militant Muslim group, the PP giving the Carapo caliphate CEPEP and LifeSport contracts galore.

Stupid. Plain and simple. I don't care what side says it.

Rowley needs to know that you don't always need to have a response to every action of the current administration, without careful thought.
