Bond's submarine car from ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ on sale

It’s the spy super car with a price tag that’s sure to leave you shaken, not stirred.

Boutique classic car dealer Hot Rod City has listed the prop 1977 Lotus Esprit featured in the James Bond film “The Spy Who Loved Me” with a $1 million price tag. According to the vehicle’s eBay listing, of the six Esprit props used in the film, only three are still in existence.

In the movie, Bond’s Esprit converts seamlessly from road use to going underwater. Just don’t expect to recreate the spy movie’s famous scene. Though this Esprit looks ready to go for a dive, complete with fins and retractable wheels, it lacks the engine necessary to go for a spin.

The tongue-in-cheek listing for the submarine car boasts that the price is the same “that Dr. Evil charged to spare the world in the first Austin Powers movie.” The $1 million price tag isn’t completely unheard of, however. Last year, billionaire Tesla CEO Elon Musk bought another one of the sub-car props for $860,000.

According to the car’s listing, the Esprit was “driven” by Bond actor Roger Moore in the movie. It has since been restored by Rick Dale and was showcased on History Channel’s “American Restoration.” The seller also promotes a variety of other famous TV and movie cars they have in stock including the “Back to the Future” DeLorean and the Mercedes featured in “The Hangover.”

Can’t scrape together to the $1 million needed for the sale? The seller proclaims that financing is available with 20 percent down and approved credit.

The listing is set to expire on October 24.

only makes sense if you an obsessive eccentric millionaire fan of the franchise, because it's not even a car, just a GRP shell
