Homemade Sandwiches in 15 mins or Less ...

Postby orangefox » February 19th, 2015, 6:56 am

Greek Egg Salad on Wheat Bread

Cook time: 15 minutes

Yield: 4 servings

6 eggs
1/3 cup Greek yogurt
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
Pinch of black pepper and/or Tabasco
1/4 cup green onion, thinly sliced
1/4 cup chopped green peppers and tomatoes
1 celery stalk, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon fresh cucumber dill , chopped
8 large lettuce leaves - thick imported kind
8 slices whole-wheat bread - expensive kind from a bakery

In a medium pot, place the eggs and fill with water. Bring the water to a boil over high heat.

Continue boiling for 5 minutes.

Turn off the heat and cover, allowing the eggs to rest for 5 minutes.

Pour off the water, and cover the eggs with ice for 5 minutes.

Peel the eggs and place them in a medium bowl.

Smash the eggs with a fork and stir in the yogurt until a chunky paste forms.

Mix in the lemon juice and pepper to taste.

Stir in the onion, celery, and dill until incorporated.

Add other ingredients.

Toast the bread with a little butter, and serve the egg salad on the 2 slices of bread with 2 leaves of lettuce each.

Boom ! Enjoy with an Ale from England !

Cool I might check them...if not I'll substitute it with something else.

What caught my eye was there was no mayo in this.
How long would this last in the fridge though? A normal recipe with mayo says 3 days.

Salmon Salad on Rye or Pumpernickel Bread

Hands-On Time 10-15 minutes

Serves 4

Ingredients

8 ounces skinless salmon fillet
6 ounces smoked salmon, chopped
1/3 cup mayonnaise or Greek Yogurt
1/3 cup chopped celery
1 tablespoon chopped chives
1 tablespoon chopped capers
1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
Black pepper or Tabasco
Thick iceberg lettuce leaves (not local TT since too bitter)
8-10 slices pumpernickel bread or Rye bread ( Check Adam's Bakery in Maraval)
Optional : Slice of imported swiss cheese ( not the local 'rat' cheese )

Directions:

Heat oven to 450° F. Roast the salmon fillet on a rimmed baking sheet until cooked through, 6 to 8 minutes; let cool, then flake.

Combine the smoked salmon, mayonnaise, celery, chives, capers, lemon zest, flaked salmon, and ¼ teaspoon pepper in a medium bowl.

Divide the salmon salad and lettuce leaves among the bread.

Ice cold English Ale or any White wine cooler or a Ginger Shandy.

Boom ! Enjoy.

I was waiting for someone to post this thread

I used to lie in my bed at night crying in the fetal position because nobody here took the initiative to post a thread on how to make a sandwich in 15 minutes, at home too wow :D

Now I can sleep soundly tonight.

chicken sandwich

get boneless breast and place between 2 sheets of wax paper and roll thin with the cylindrical thingy that women beat their beta male husbands with...then season to ur likeness...i like green seasoning..black pepper, adobo, cayenne pepper, salt,....bake at 350 for around 25 minutes...chop chicken into a few slices.. place on toasted, buttered bread, add lettuce, cucumbers, avocado..bess sandwich

salmon sandwich / meal

if bought in the large slabs.. cut into sandwich size pieces (about 4 inches wide) season with salt, black pepper, lemon pepper--------place on propane grill on low heat...meanwhile get butter and put in pan on low heat, grate garlic cloves into it, and add parsley..do not let it burn..just simmer momentarily...go outside to grill and carefully flip salmon..and baste each side till cooked...serve on bread or microwave a potato and butter it

roast beef sandwich

get large clod of beef, season, cook in crockpot for 8 hours on low,or bake in over at around 275 for about 4 hours, slice and eat with bread

one of my favourite sandwiches to eat is the bbq lamb manwich..on ciabatta bread

Instead of using the bilnah, I would mince the chicken breast in the mini chopper first, then season, add an egg to hold the patty together, and grill it.
