Five teenagers, ages ranging from 14 -18, all from the Monroe Road, Cunupia area and said to be related to prominent entrepreneurs from Cunupia were arrested by police this morning.
Around 2am today several persons reported to the Cunupia police that they were accosted by five occupants in a grey Toyota RAV 4 claiming to be police.
In all cases, the victims told police that they were driving in the Cunupia district when the RAV 4 pulled alongside them, one man in the back seat with a hood over his head and a camera in hand, the other sitting in the front passenger seat wearing a mask, pointing a gun at their victim, claiming to be police demanding that they pull over.
Police say for the past week the police say they have been receiving similar reports but were unable to locate the suspects or the vehicle. In all cases the suspects operate late at nights and the early hours of the morning.
Officers Mohammed, Heramam, Babwah and Phillip, after receiving the report shortly before two this morning, intercepted the RAV 4 at the corner of Bridle and Monroe Road moments after.
All five occupants were arrested and taken into custody.
Police seized a M8-3 6mm assault rifle, one dagger, two walkie talkies, two throw knives, 1 butterfly knife, a stun gun, one army camouflage, several suits of clothing and a ski mask.
The driver, 18 and two of the other suspects, 14 and 17 live at Warren Monroe Road while the 16-year-old and another 18-year-old live at Mon Plaisir and Gobin Trace, Monroe Road respectively.
Pc Phillip of the Cunupia police is continuing investigation.
