The following is a statement from the Police Service:
"Officers of the Traffic and Highway Patrol Branch of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service are currently engaged in a 24 hour road traffic exercise aimed at enforcing all road traffic laws and regulations.
The exercise began at 9:00am today Thursday 13th August, 2015, and will continue until the expiration of the 24 hour period.
As part of the overall operation, several police checkpoints were established at specific locations along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway namely La Horquetta, Curepe, Aranguez and Beetham where ‘stop and searches’ of motorists and their vehicles were carried out.
Similar exercises also took place along the northern strip of the Uriah Butler Highway and the M2 Ring Road, Debe.
The DUI Task Force is also involved in the operation.
Snr. Supt. Beverly Lewis, of the Traffic and Highway Patrol Branch, is in charge of the operation."
