Patent bought by a former hedge fund manager. Realised he could turn an obscene profit on people's misfortune. Forget Cecil, someone should hunt him down.
Gotta make that paper apparently by any means necessary , maybe unscrupulous prices in all fields should be looked at too besides only when people are sick [EYES]
It seems pretty clear that he did this whole thing to short pharmaceutical and biotech stocks. He even tweeted that he was shorting a biotech stock about a month ago, saying that he expected it to drop about 80% in the coming weeks. What better way to short a market than to stir up a bunch of bad PR right after you dump a bunch of stock. Then buy it back at the new low price. I believe he's had a suit brought against him for his tweet too.
I would expect the democrats to have something to say about this because the very premise of Obamacare is supposed to be based on affordable health care.
They can't do anything besides levy social pressure on the management. Have you listened to the arsehole that runs the company? He is as cold as they come.
Demand and supply cannot regulate the pricing of goods like these. Its pretty much an oligopolistic market structure that sells a life or death product. This isn't bread.
This dude seriously giving biotech people a bad name. But then again, he does look like a sociopath. Even if the retail price was low, raising the price 5000% is totally unjustified. Problem is, he is not breaking any rules and there are not many drugs like Diapram, may have to settle for less effective cheaper substitutes.

Drug CEO Will Lower Price of Daraprim After Hike Sparked Outrage
The pharmaceutical company boss under fire for increasing the price of the drug Daraprim by more than 5,000 percent said Tuesday he will lower the cost of the life-saving medication.
Martin Shkreli did not say what the new price would be, but expected a determination to be made over the next few weeks.
He told NBC News that the decision to lower the price was a reaction to outrage over the increase in the price of the drug from $13.50 to $750 per pill.
More from NBC News: Most Americans will be victim of wrong or late diagnosis New virus found in blood supply—but don't freak out just yet Price hike for tuberculosis drug rolled back "Yes it is absolutely a reaction — there were mistakes made with respect to helping people understand why we took this action, I think that it makes sense to lower the price in response to the anger that was felt by people," Shkreli, 32, said.
the smug idiot had to alter the settings on his twitter account to avoid all the justifiable hate being directed at him. Fool tried to make unjustifiable profits off of people's suffering. You can bet the day he catches a flu the media will be waiting.
On the other hand nobody does complain on the price of alcohol which is destructive to health and wallet Them liquor companies make just as much money as pharmaceuticals
alcohol isn't needed to keep ppl alive & its considered a luxury item. theres nuttn luxurious about needing a medication to keep you alive and not being able to afford it only makes things worse
