super gas burning faster?????

Postby SYKO » November 19th, 2015, 12:31 pm

For the past 2 months I been experiencing gas problems in my vehicle (tiida). I normally get about 370kms from a full tank but for the past couple months I been getting like 250-300 from a tab. Ive changed plugs twice, oil 3 times, all filters etc and same problem.

It's the exact same route I use morning and evening. Some ppl I've spoken to are getting the same problem of gas not lasting as long as usual.

Any suggestions?

Have your driving patterns changed? Have you been more aggressive on the pedal?
Have you had a look at the fuel filter?

Same patterns as its 2 hours traffic from when I drive out my gate to when I reach to work and an hour from work to home. So I don't kno what may be causing that. Fuel filter has been changed twice just as a precaution.

Well boy, having gone through and exhausted all other possible factors it boils down to the quality of the gas I guess.

With super I get atleast 425k on a tank and more with premium....so ur car needs to service...250k is really bad mileage from a full tank of gas

Vehicle is properly serviced. As I mentioned I would normally get about 370kms from my tank which was acceptable as the amount of traffic faced daily and the distance. Since I noticed this a couple mths ago it's like the car was serviced twice in the space or about 3500kms. And this is the last possibility so I really don't kno.

But as I also stated I'm not the only one complaining

Yeah I have same problem with Y12 ad I just bought.. Has HR 15 engine and I find it burning ah lil too much gas. So anyways my brother has an older Y11 ad wagon which was excellent on gas an he recently started complaining about how much gas it does burn(now doing 240xxxkm). So he had the car scanned and nothing came up. He serviced it a couple times and still same problem. So he went with me to collect the newer Y12 ad wagon and we were telling the car dealer about the gas burning problem and he said its a "faulty oxygen sensor" and to get it changed. So the sensor has not been changed as yet so I cant give feed back on it but im just passing on info that might help. The other thing is with used cars u can tell how good your catalyst converter is. A padah of mines say he padnah car was running like it had no power and burning gas. So they took out the catalyst converter and cleared out all the stuff in there that filters the exhaust emissions and after that car running like road runner. So the Catayst converter is another thing to check cause u never know with used vehicles .....

Removing the catalytic converter CAN result in higher fuel consumption, especially if there is a secondary oxygen sensor.

OP something wrong with your vehicle. Check intake air filter, O2 sensors, spark plugs, pistons rings and your catalytic converter.

You don't want to have to change Pistons, piston rings. That is a big job. Takes long too. That's like last resort. Check the other things first.

Only things to check are the piston rings and catalytic converter.

Tried different stations etc.
Ppl who complaining have various vehicles; civic, corolla, yaris, 323 & Mazda 3

Not denying my car needs injectors cleaned but fuel economy has dropped drastically. Wasn't this bad before.

Ok y'all actually onto something. Gasoline is a mix of components and you can mix them in various ratios once the bureau of standards specs are met. The mix has been tweaked on the manufacturer's side so that's why you guys noticing that compared to months ago. Won't make a difference which station or np vs uni.

This is what I was wondering.
