So Idk if this has been asked before but I want to get someone tested for everything. All stds/stis. First time, so I'm unsure of where and what the price is like. Can anyone enlighten me?

walk into any hospital and ask for the VTC clinic... everything is confidential. staff are trained specifically for this and offer support. PPl HIv Aids is the only disease to be concerned with but syph and gonor etc can messs up your world permanently

Way to go on getting tested etc.
Do know that there is a window period regarding std's where the test may show up negative when in fact the person is positive but is in the window period. For hiv, the window period is up to three months after exposure.

If possible you should do a duo hiv test. This is both an antibody and antigen test, looking for the virus itself. In Europe etc it is considered conclusive at 28 days and by some at 6 weeks. An antibody test is conclusive at 84 days.

Victoria labs is on Frederick street with other locations in Chaguanas and San Fernando I believe. There is also one in Adam Smith Square that does anonymous testing. I think it's online medical testing.

Testing is good but you also need to know how to test and when to test in order to get the most reliable results.

Hospital only test for syphillis and hiv. The scary thing is that the other stds make it easier for a person to contract hiv and most people don't even show symptoms for the other stds so they basically flying blind. I'm not sure what generation of test the hospital uses. I know that they use those rapid sticks etc as well. I'm sure plenty people get tested during the window period and think that everything ok. Pressure yes.

Also, just because the test saying negative doesn't mean that you can dispense with condoms etc. Remember that there is a window period with regards to testing and also until you are in a mutually monogamous relationship then condoms/protection should still be used. Remember "horning" is a national pastime in this country apparently. We aren't amish. Protect yourself always

But there are so many diseases and infections you can get from someone it's scary asf. Victoria Labs has a 2500 test for everything which is expensive asf. These test shouldn't be that high and should be accessible to all

Op, if I were you I would focus my testing on hiv, gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes, syphillis. If you search enough you may be able to get those done for under 1000 tt and quite possibly as low as 600 tt as well.

Family planning etc only test for hiv and I think gonorrhea for women etc. I researched this months ago. The most you getting in hospital is hiv and syphillis. Everything else you need to fit the bill and go to a private lab. In developed countries they have dedicated std centers that operate on a walk in basis. Most people here only test for hiv periodically not knowing that the other STIs carry little or no symptom etc. Cover all basis people.

OP you may not have to test for everything. Some things wouldn't be easily transmitted to you etc based on biology and others may not even be in high prevalence amongst the local population.

If it's a high risk situation such as Men who have sex with men or a sex worker then you may need to go more in depth. BTW sex workers are not known/suspected to be major carriers of sti's due to stringent condom use etc. Ofc I'm talking about sex workers in developed countries where it is more regulated etc.

If you going and spread out a girl just test for the main ones that I mentioned before. Is up to you of course but that $500 sounding like a good deal. Just make sure you understand testing window periods and also the type of tests used etc. Some tests may be more sensitive than others etc.

It's sad that the information isn't that easily available here as I have noticed that a lot of people are misinformed or sadly ill informed regarding this. I spent a considerable amount of time in the UK plus my parents are in the medical field there so information is something that was always available to me. It's good that you are putting him through all that testing.

Both of you should repeat the test(hiv) in about 3 months and then as an adult having sex you should test at least twice a year for Hiv and yearly for all other sti's.

You'll be fine. You can have all the fun in the world as long as you are safe.

Also become knowledgeable in using lubricants and applying condoms properly. If possible purchase your own condom so that you will always be able to protect yourself in the event that the guy doesn't have one. Store them in a cool dry area such as draw. This would help prevent them breaking from inadequate storage. I really suggest that you purchase your own just for safe keeping.

Lubricants help against friction and prevents the condom from breaking etc. Also lubricants are good for you in making the process "smoother". Silicone and water based lubricants can be used with condoms. Never use oil based stuff such as vaseline and baby oil etc as that can cause the condom to break. To protect against std's use a latex or polyurethane condom. Lamb skin don't protect against hiv etc. Use the correct size condom as well. Aim for a good brand such as durex, lifestyle and trojan. Beware of condom expiry date.

If the condom is put on the wrong way/side then it needs to be removed and disposed of. It should never be used again as it may have come into contact with his pre-cum etc.
