Now you have to wonder if she's alive or not and who else involved. Police even?

TTRN news just said Coast Guard are looking up and down the coast for her body. Trinidad Express reported that the male suspect was still in custody but they would have to release him today by law if no charges are laid, they can rearrest him though.

Sea Lots no longer welcome home to suspect

Published:
Wednesday, March 15, 2017

Residents of Sea Lots say if the 39-year-old man held by police in connection with the sudden disappearance of constable Nyasha Joseph is released by police, he will not be welcomed back in the community.

The residents claimed the man, who lives at Production Drive, has been causing problems for them due to the stigma being placed on the area once again because of Joseph’s disappearance.

One resident said he has been causing “a crisis” in the area, while another resident said the man may not want to return if ever he is released from police custody.

Police meanwhile said they received a tip off that Joseph’s body had been transported by pirogue and dumped in the mangroves off Sea Lots. They returned to the area and conducted searches in the marshy area, but again left empty handed.

However, they did arrest four men in connection with the discovery of one kilogram of marijuana. The officers also searched some houses in the area, including one belonging to Harvey Adams.

Speaking after the search of his house, Adams said he welcomed the efforts in locating Joseph.

“The police move professional and respectful. They didn’t rough me up or nothing. People in the area uncomfortable now and the police searching everybody,” Adams said.

Adams added that he knows the man police have arrested since he was a child, adding he and his family were peaceful people.

On Joseph’s whereabouts, he said, “I believe she is no longer alive, but I don’t think her body around here. If it was they would have found it already. This (searching Sea Lots) is a waste of time,” Adams said.

Relatives of Joseph said yesterday they are hopeful she is returned to them alive, but have been preparing themselves for the worst and just want closure.

On Monday, Crime Stoppers offered a $25,000 reward for any information which leads to locating Joseph, who has been missing since last Friday after she failed to report for duty. She was last seen in company with the 39-year-old Sea Lots man who is assisting police with their investigations. Police will continue their search today.

Did they check guest houses in Mayaro? Plenty of these missing cases turns out to be run away with another man scene of late. Whatever the story, I hope she is alive.

"Missing: WPC Nyasha Joseph

A body has been found in a bag in the Gulf of Paria, in an area being searched for missing woman police constable Nyasha Joseph.

The discovery was made in the Gulf of Paria near the mouth of the Caroni River. It was sighted by a fisherman, according to initial reports.

The Express was told by a senior officer in the Northern Division that fishermen discovered a body in a bag in the water and that the Coast Guard had gone out to retrieve it.

The officer said that police officers were awaiting word.

On Monday Crime stoppers has issued a $25,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of missing woman police constable Nyasha Joseph who has disappeared without a trace last Thursday.

The reward was issued on Monday after extensive sea, land and air searches in parts of north and central Trinidad have been unsuccessful, and a suspect in police custody has not led them to her.

The reward was confirmed to the Express by Insp Michael Seales, president of the Police Social and Welfare Association.

A media release issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service on Monday stated that the search for Joseph extended to the Caroni river, in addition to the waters off Sea Lots.

Joseph was seen by her colleagues on Thursday but did not report for duty at the Morvant Police Station that afternoon.

She could not be found or contacted, and has not been seen since.

Her colleagues mounted a search for her on Friday, and it continued over the weekend without success.

She is the mother of a girl, who turned four years old on Monday."

Police confirm body found in Gulf is Nyasha Joseph

Date:
Wednesday, March 15, 2017 - 15:15

Several police officers at the port of Port-of-Spain have told reporters that a body discovered in the Gulf of Paria by a fisherman is that of missing WPC Nyasha Joseph.

Joseph went missing last Thursday and several searches have been focussed in the Sealots area and the waters offshore.

Officers attached to the Homicide Division have also confirmed that the body is that of the missing WPC.

Michael Seales, president of the Police Social and Welfare Association has also told the media that preliminary reports indicate the discovery is that of WPC Joseph.

Several police and army officers were at the port when the body was brought ashore by the Coast Guard.

The body was found near the mouth of the Caroni River around 12.15 pm.

Reports indicate that the body was found tangled in a fisherman's net. Somebreports say bricks were attached to ensure that it sank to the bottom of the water but police and Coast Guard officers have not yet verified how she was found.

Police have one man in custody in connection with the missing officer.

A voicenote circulating said a fisherman who cast a net earlier was pulling it up and thought it caught on the bottom but on pulling it up realized there was a body there. The voice note said the body had bricks attached to it to prevent it from floating to the surface.

Real terrible.

Yes, according to one article and you can assume that from the pic.
I guess they weren't equipped or reluctant to bring her onboard. the little forensic evidence left might have been washed away in tow.
