Why is it that Licensing division will not Register a Kit Car?

I know its been attempted here before and it was unsuccessful, but what reasoning does the Licensing division have they they will NOT register a KIT Car manufactured locally ? it cannot be about safety as we have so many older vehicles that have terrible safety features or none that came factory installed.
Why has this law or regulation not been altered to allow for such hobby people and collectors?, given proper Pre- inspection and scrutineering be taken into consideration of course.

You would be surprised that if challenged in court, those Jhats do not have a good reason to do so and it maybe ultra virus type behaviour .........................

They probably don't have the ability to verify that it is safe.

Well if its a question of the safety of the vehicle then how do they justify leaving older cars on the roads that do not have safety airbags or side impact beams.
If the kit car is a produced and tested Kit that passed DOA abroad and was merely assembeled here then COmpanies can be employed locally to ensure that points on the chassis are to spec( systems used by some garages after fixing crashed and damaged chassis) and any welding can be x-rayed and examined by qualified locals.

They probably don't have the ability to verify that it is safe.

It probably is considered as CDK, knockdown... which no longer are registered.

We have kit cars on the road in Trinidad!
I have seen a few.
As far as im aware (could be wrong) the law states no vehicles can be assembled in Trinidad and Tobago.. Assembled is the key word.. Just assemble it somewhere else and send it like any other car to be registered.
Plus passing a lil money does help

Most repairers don't carry out proper repairs. The day the industry is rationalised and regulated, many will fall by the wayside.
In developed countries, there is post collision repair inspection, let the insurance industry introduce that here ...............
