And because men fortunate to possibly drive a 4x4 pickup with a lift kit and their house is probably on a hill, and some of us stuck in our jup low bfourdeen, they're looking forward to one hitting us to 'wake us up..' I'm good; I'm 'woke' already in every sense of the word. But on a serious note, I mean we're fortunate enough to be in a somewhat 'difficult' area for a powerful hurricane to hit but we're definitely not immune. Looking at the devastation these storms cause..a rain band came for us and we were practically at a standstill, much less for an entire Category 5 hurricane or anything even remotely close.

In terms of preparation, I have lapsed in terms of restocking emergency supplies  but that can be done in very little time, however, I'm sure we all know someone who knows someone that still could do with a tap or ten for engaging in the archaic behaviour of littering and illegal dumping that further exacerbates our flooding 'problem', that often has a debilitating effect on us, much less for a storm surge in tandem with several inches of rainfall (that could be further compounded by coinciding with high tide). AGAIN, I'm NOT an advocate for any political party, but it's hard to blame the Gov't, any Gov't for situations that we as citizens cause (or at least worsen) for ourselves. All the best to our Caribbean brothers and sisters that have been at/preparing to be at the mercy of Maria; if I'm not mistaken, it seems as though she intensified even faster than Irma, with sustained winds only 10 mph less than her 'older sister'..this hurricane season may go down in history as one of the worst and we still have just over 2 months to go..

The Regional Security System (RSS) conducted an aerial reconnaissance today September 19, 2017 using one of its C26 aircraft of Dominica after the passage of Hurricane Maria. See footage of some of the damaged areas...
