Trinidadian woman who was convicted of posing as a travel agent and defrauding customers of hundreds of thousands of dollars in Canada, was given permission to return to Trinidad and Tobago.

According to a report by Global News Toronto, 50-year-old Carolyn Solomon was charged and convicted in a Toronto Court in 2017 after she posed as a licensed travel agent and defrauded customers of over $465,000 Canadian dollars.

ccording to reports, customers booked flights and vacation packages with her company, Blue Mountain Travel, but when they tried to claim their trips, they were told that they were not valid.

The court heard that 56 customers had been defrauded of their money between 2014 and 2016, amounting to $454,000.

The report said Solomon was released in November 2017 because she was given credit for time served, however, she failed to abide by her probation conditions and was returned to jail, then released on January 31, 2018.

Solomon must return to court on April 17. The court said that if Solomon does not show up, a warrant will be issued for her arrest.

She also faces an additional three years in jail if she fails to repay the victims.
