If these vendors being on the highway is illegal, why doesn't the police that lurk for shoulder drivers remove them? While that may be inconsistent WRT other things that are illegal but why are condoning them? Do they bother any of us on afternoons?

Remember for a time someone had gotten bounced down and there was a big uproar against vendors selling side the highway (think it was the chick who got bounced by a truck when she stopped side the highway). That was the hardest time to find a rasta selling nuts and a bottle of water, but slowly they came back out and police low them.


So I guess after my cs, to answer you it's kinda like the same reason you won't report them boy down the street who hustling dime bags and quarters.

Jaywalking is illegal. Pedestrians on the highway is jaywalking. Operating bicycles and mopeds on the highway is illegal.

Isn't it easy to see why so many things are wrong in Trinidad if everyone turns their face the other way or is just ignorant of these simple laws. I never saw any nuts or cooler man on the 401 Expressway in Toronto.

The day will come, yes it will come because that's how the statistics work. Sooner or later one of them going to get flattened and flavoured with all the juice and mauby they're selling. You keep rolling the dice and eventually it will throw snake eyes.

Then the Minister of Transport will make a statement to enforce the already existing law. Like a few years back when they banned selling on the side of the highway; a family had stopped on the highway to buy some sort of fruit and there was a huge collision and so many died. No more roast corn on the side of the highway after that.

Just to re-iterate the point where the debate started:

1) No, it is not diggin out yuh eye if a drinks man charge $1 more on the highway IMO.
2) Yes it is illegal and dangerous for drinks men to be on the highway in traffic but i have no prob wid a man makin a lil dollar, if police do intercept them however, they will have no case.. I often purchase frequently from these drinks/nuts men.
