SuperStreet IRS Race Weekend 1: 9+10.Apr.16

So it was all about running a tight shift and giving the drivers and spectators their money’s worth… wait it was free to spectators… with beautiful weather conditions for racing, Day#2 began promptly at 11am with the first Time Attack session in which 4 SS2 cars and 2 SS1 cars were grouped. With Mylaps transponders attached drivers were reeling off the laps at blistering pace, none more so than Marc Gill in his Liqui Moly Honda Civic K20 (SS2 Circuit), who promptly did a 45.032s on lap 2 which stood for the day as the fastest lap time by any car.

The day continued with a mix of Time Attack and Circuit races by both bikes and cars. Nicholas Gonsalves dominated the bike group winning both circuit races and setting the fastest time of the day of 43.877seconds.

The second fastest lap by a SS2 car was set by Ross Vieira (SS2 Circuit) at 46.593s…Ross went on to dominate the day winning all 3 circuit races for cars… not too shabby for a first time circuit racer! Following Ross in third place Time Attack was Anil Mack (SS2 SuperStreet) with a time of 48.731s.

SS3 and SS4 were combined and saw some outstanding drives from the Subaru Camp. Leading the pack was Clive Sugden in his Subaru STI… Uncle Clive won the Time Attack in a time of 46.943s followed by Deonarine Kalipersad (Impreza STI) and Kevon Ramjohn (Evo VIII MR).

The last hour of the day ended with a huge punch… 3 special exhibition races were held with the first being the 7 fastest Hondas (with 4 wheels attached ) in a 8 lap circuit race but using Time Attack rules. Ross Viera in the Gecko K20 Civic took top honours followed closely by Kristian Boodoosingh in a 1.6 Civic Hatch.

The second Exhibition race was a Subaru vs Evo Showdown. Clive Sugden with his Subaru STI starting at the back of the pack winning not so easily from second place Kevon Ramjohn Evo VIII MR and third place Sarah Partapsingh (Evo VI).

The last race of the day was also an Exhibition Circuit Race with the fastest cars from all classes in a 7 car battle. Ross Vieira and Clive Sugden took a few laps to weave through the pack but it ended in that order…Ross winning followed closely by Clive.

Promptly at 5pm SuperStreet RaceWeekend #1 came to a close.
