TTASA constructing Circuit Racing Track at Camden

TTASA constructing Circuit Racing Track at Camden

The President of TTASA Mr. Mohammed Ali said his association has started the clearing of an area immediately north of the Camden runway / drag strip that will be used for a circuit racing track.

Mr. Ali said the new circuit will be 1.1 miles long and will be more or less a mirror image of the track at Wallerfield. He said the new track will be very interesting to drivers with both “left and right handers”. Stating also the actual track surface being constructed will be 40 feet wide with ample room for passing and paved with asphalt with wider sections at the corners with sand traps. No budget was given for the cost of this project.

TTASA, the National Governing Body (NGB) for Motorsport in T&T was granted permission by the Commissioner of State Lands for the use of Camden for motorsport activities in 20077 and again in 2011 where only drag racing events have been taking place. The completion of this circuit racing track would hopefully see the rebirth of circuit racing in Trinidad which was stopped completely with the closure of Wallerfield in 2006.
