TTRC Rally 1 – Bacchanal in Reform
The 2012 Rally Season kicked off with a small field of 15 cars facing the starter. This however didn’t dampen the spirit of the enthusiastic supporters who braved the blazing sun and small rain showers to be thoroughly entertained.
Rally Jamaica 2011
Flying the T&T flag, John ” Penti” Powell & Nick Telfer created history at last weekends Rally Jamaica. The pair took top honors and removed the trophy from the island for the first time in its 20 year running.Driving his newly acquired Subaru s14 Wrc machine for first time on Gravel, Powell won the rally for the first time in 11 attempts. Finishing a very close 2nd was Barbados’s Sean Gill/Michael “Zippy” Cummings, followed by Gary “The Colonel” Gregg/Hugh Hutshinson and wrapping up the top 4, Jeffrey Panton/Michael Fennell Jr.
TTRC Rally Finale 2011 – Reform
After a disastrous start in the previous rally, on his much anticipated return to rallying – Ainsley “Mr. Action” Lochan with co-driver Robert Cadiz, in his STAG/ULTRA/JOSEF’s EVO IX, showed his top rivals that he is still a force to be reckoned with, by winning the final rally aptly named Rally Finale Reformed, albeit a slim margin over the Shell Helix/Intercontinental Shipping sponsored EVO X of John Powell and Jason Costelloe.
TOTAL Trailblazers 4×4 Annual All Terrain Challenge: Mud Madness
The day began in earnest with a 7am call time at the Caroni Bird Sanctuary. Mitsubishi L200s, Ford Rangers, Land Rovers, Range Rovers Suzuki Jimnys, Toyota Hiluxes, Mazda BT50s, and even a chop-top, door-netted Nissan Patrol were gearing up for a taste of the TOTAL Trailblazers 4×4 Annual All Terrain Challenge event. Last year there was so much rain that the King of the Hill had to be cancelled but this year, things seemed off to a great start.
TTRC – State of Rally, Cedar Hill
John “Penti” Powell co-driven by Jason Costelloe were victorious again at another TTRC championship rally event at Cedar Hill. Jason last co-drive for John when they both won at Rally Trinidad 2011. Latiff Khan again impressed taking top spot in group 3-A., Reyaz Mohammed for the 2nd consecutive rally took first place in group 2-4, and Donald Gopaul was the fastest 2 wheel drive on the day.
John Powell represents T&T at Rally Sun and Stars, Barbados
On a rain soaked day, Paul Bourne managed to take top honors in last weekends “Sun and Stars” rally in Barbados. Driving his 2007 Ford Focus WRC he beat a field comprising of 5 world rally cars. This field included T&T’s John ‘Penti’ Powell in his brand new Subaru Impreza s14 WRC machine.
T&T’s John Powell debuts his Subaru S14 WRC in Barbados this weekend!
John “Penti” Powell who recently took delivery of a new Subaru Impreza S14 WRC, flew in the car to Barbados for its first ever rally, taking place on the island this weekend. The Subaru Impreza S14 WRC, which is the first in the Caribbean, was given a shakedown at the Vaucluse race park alongside Barbados’ very own Roger “The Sheriff” Skeete in his Subaru Impreza S12 WRC.
TTRC Rally Cedar Hill
Maiden victories where the order of the day during the latest round of this year’s TTRC high speeds rally stages. The tricky Cedar Hill stage once again claimed many victims, with a host of cars running off throughout the day. The competiveness of this season has been amazing so far and with only 2 rounds of racing left and top honors to be decided the upcoming events promise to be interesting for both fans and rally teams alike.
