Jamaicans Jeffrey Panton along with co-driver Mike Fennel in their “Panton Motorsport” Ford Focus WRC returned the 1st place trophy to the host nation for Rally Jamaica 2012! 2011 winner John Powell and co-driver Nick Telfer, flying the T&T flag on their Subaru Impreza S14 WRC were unable to return the top award to Trinidad & Tobago this year.
5-Team Trini contingent head to Rally Jamaica 2012
5 T&T crews are heading to compete at Rally Jamaica 2012 this weekend. The Jamaican leg of the “Caribbean Rally Championship” is a very similar format to Trinidad with 4-6 different stages being run over Saturday and Sunday, and a tarmac super special in Kingston to close off the Rally. The local boys should be at home with the surface and once they finish they should place well.
Powell and Fennell look to WRC 2013!
After getting their proverbial feet wet in the World Rally Championship level just a couple of days ago with Rally de Espana 2012, John Powell and co-driver Mike Fennel may have to actually drive in ice come next year at WRC Rally Sweden with FORD M-Sport. According to T&T`s Powell, you may have to mark February 7-10, 2013 on the calendar as he heads to Sweden with FORD M-Sport.
Powell gets a dose of WRC fever
SPAIN. John Powell, Trinidad and Tobago’s top rally driver had his first full-fledged experience on the Gandesa, Pesells 1 and Terra Alta 1 WRC stages in Cataluna, Spain on Friday morning. Local media teams from Trinidad & Tobago were positioned at the start of the first stage and observed Powell and Jamaican co-driver Mike Fennell Jr. in fine form compared to the previous day’s practice and qualifying runs driving the M-Sport Ford Fiesta WRC.
Caribbean Rally Team to begin Shakedown in Spain
SALOU, SPAIN. After a hectic morning of qualifying stages in Salou, both WRC driver John Powell and navigator Mike Fennel are ready for the shakedown stages driving a WRC Ford Fiesta RS. With Thursday’s qualifying session permitting two complete passes of free practice and one complete pass in an attempt to set the fastest time possible in championship order, Powell and Fennel churned up a reasonable time 12 seconds behind leader Sebastien Loeb.
Powell begins his attack of the WRC Rally Spain
John Powell began his attack of the WRC Rally Spain 2012 this morning with the all the hope and pride of local motorsport fans. He started amongst the world’s best including 9-time and current World Champion Sebastien Loeb, and multiple winner and Ford teammate Petter Solberg. Driving for Team Ford M-Sport, Powell had 2 practice runs this morning followed by the qualifying stage which determines the start order for Rally Spain.

Yes people it is 100% true. Trinidad’s very own John ‘Penti’ Powell will drive for M-SPORT Team Ford at Rally de Espana on November 8-11, 2012. TTRC Rally “Bronte Decider”
The TTRC 2012 Speed Stages Rally Championship is nearing it’s end and as all the points are being tabulated, the final battles were decided at Bronte. The “decider” started very late and a number of competitors were absent but the action was still there and the lime was even better! Bajan rally driver James Betts eventually finished in first place for the day.
