drivers who learned to use their left foot for braking typically have quicker stopping reaction times and therefore shorter stopping distances, becasue their left foot is usually hovering over the brake pedal and ready to apply. A traditional monofoot driver has to move his foot off the gas pedal, then reposition to the brake pedal. That half second difference adds up to greater reaction distance as speed increases, and equates to a longer stopping distance
