PRESCHOOL ASSISTANCE??

Postby ProgressiveTT » July 8th, 2012, 9:56 pm

Tuners, I need some recommendations for a good kindergarten/preschool in the town/west region. Preferably one that you actually have experience with and not heard about unless multiple people recommended it.
Reasonably priced as well.

What is reasonable priced??? You usually get what you pay for a pre-school/ daycare.

Hopefully nothing working up to more than $1000.00/$3000 a month/term.

Not looking for over the top service. I want one that has a proven track record for education and safety and provides plenty extra cirrcular activities.
Also want to make sure that they enforce discipline

UWI pre-school on austin street, st augustine. $3850/term. great sylabus, great caring teachers. this is not the one people say you gotta apply even before the child is born. this is a newer one run by UWI. they focus on child development, interactivity, sports, dancing, swimming, etc. they interviewed me yesterday, the parents interview is pretty intense, but worth it. i may consider but the distance for me is pretty far

Loco what the parent interview entails, usually with uwi once you could pay that's all that matters so when you say intense can you explain

they ask questions as to:

1)your home interaction with your kid, how much you read to them etc
2) your method of discipline, your voice tone, they ask for examples
3) a typical day, type of food, feeding times
4) about the parents job, hobbies, especially hobbies.....
5) and they drill you as to why you want your kid to attend their school

all questions must be answered by mom and dad, verbally, seperately.

its not bad, i prefer this sort of interview, it shows they are quite genuine.

oh, and the biggest plus with this school, you are allowed to keep your kid away for certain times. in my case, i will not allow my daughter to attend carnival festivities and dancing.

not to panic yuh too much, but yuh know that was the usual "prey" back in my tertiary education days?
jussayin.
how long you enforcing that rule? 18? 24? doesn't matter. by 17, you'll see the signs you need to.
Better get them exposed and prepared. Don't let the bright lights carry them, when they've been naive for so long.

let me re-phrase before you all go down the moral-immoral road :D . i am willing to let her know about the festivities, religious holidays etc, in theory, she must know the history etc. but to actually partake in the physical jump-up etc i can prevent for now.

How old is your kid?

Another factor to consider is some preschools call themselves that, but they are really daycare centres
