Apple n00b here, but is there any functional untethered jailbreaks out for a 4s running 6.1.3? Went through a few pages here and googled but nothing much came up.

nope. next jailbreak will probably be for iOS 7. Besides, you don't need a jailbreak anymore for average use.

iOS 7 beta 5 is out (yes already)

Here's what's new

Personally I'm not a fan of much of these changes.

conversely I welcome them. I'm glad they removed that rice I mean utter crap. Oops I meant useless panorama wallpaper thing. That just drains battery and performance.

I was checking a bmobile sim in my factory unlocked iPhone4, and the carrier update that Bmobile pushed disabled the hotspot feature. I titn't prompt to install anthing so i noticed after it was too late.
would a reset remove it?

I know. I confirmed this.
This is due to their contract with Apple.

What I want to know is if there is a work around.

not really due to their Apple contract but it may ultimately be up to Apple to finalize.

Bmobile techs claimed it has be enabled again however I believe they need to issue a new carrier update for it to take effect.

I think enabling the personal hotspot would increase data usage and should be something bmobile would want to do.

SO a factory reset won't remove it?

So what are my options then, because it is a device bought directly from Apple.

One option is to remove your bmobile sim and throw it away and replace it with a Digicel sim.. I've contemplated this option so many times but at this point can't afford to change my number..
As previously mentioned.. Sucks..

lol.
I honestly only put in a bmobile sim to test the 4G before i make a choice between the two networks for a data account.
Green didn't do too well, but i will see if i can regain the hotspot feature as i will be in the Red network.

So once you put in a bmobile sim it automatically does the carrier update and can't be undone?

the block should be carrier specific though.

Works on mine. Even after a bmobile sim. It is carrier specific.
