I am no engineer, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn:

Since when do we construct a highway, cut ribbon then a year later realise drainage is not done yet.
Isn't drainage an essential part of the finished product?

You should have said this when the mighty Solomon Hochoy highway collapse on Claxton bay hill and took over a year to be repaired.

^^maybe it was a year it took for them to complete repairs

but if i remember correctly as a kid it was unaddressed for years!!!! (under the PNM of course)

actually, correct me if i am wrong but was it the UNC who repaired it?

^^^ The Solomon Hochoy highway collapse in 2 places, and took ages for it to repaired .
All over trini especially in south there are numerous places were the road has collapse . The moruga road had multiple collapses and was left unprepared for not years but terms under PNM. It took UNC and PP to do these repairs

Expect more mischievous and mis information to come from PNM as elections gets closer.
More nit picking to come from PNM media houses

Its one thing for decades old roads that wasnt engineered with modern technology and that with the passage of time would require maintenance...

Then there is the incomplete commissioning of a segment of a $7B highway.

I see many PP supporters are being very forgiving on the gov't for this failure and heaping blame on the contractor. Yet when it comes the Las Alturas and Tarouba Stadium they can identify the individual PNM officials responsible.

After one year highway washes away..but its ok because politics allows us to defend it by finding a remotely similar occurrence in the past under another regime, and this is why we will get no where. Nothing is wrong with support...but it should not be blind.
So now the standard is that even with exorbitant costs, Trini roads should should cave under normal rainfall. Heaven help us

The plaster for every sore is that the problem occurred in the last administration . If that is a stock reply then, why did we bother to change an administration if the same is occurring now? We voted maybe to see improvements, not excuses for bad projects and governance.

It is clear that some form works were not done on the side of these roadways . This is somewhat surprising in that most of the soils in this area are some form of consolidated clay or other soft core soil types , making them more prone to water erosion and movement .

Well this is excellent value for 100,000,000+ TTD per mile.

We just double Junior Sammy annuity with repair works for ever.

Um... it was only surface damage, the site is being re mediated. Don't see the big deal.. tiny patch of shoulder, maybe 5 meters.

It wasnt only surface damage. The base and the subbase failed as the road reserved became unstable from poor drainage.

Who is to say the problem wouldn't repeat itself somewhere else?

For the nit pickers of PNM and the media that's all they have to complain about in finding faults. That's the big deal.

Next they will say they installing lamppost leaning to one side.

Wouldn't this damage be within the warranty period for the contractor to repair at his own costs?

Has the misfortune to be in a taxi playing Sunshine radio this morning (ILP station). If the retards on that station was my only news source, I would’ve sworn the entire stretch of highway collapsed, all roads are closed and the entire population of South is stranded.

All that for 5 metres of shoulder. Sensationalism at its best.
