TTRC Snake Bites Again

The Trinidad and Tobago rally club held its third event for the year 2014 at the newly re-introduced and apparently, very famous, Snake rally stage located in Preysal Village, Couva. The stage brought back to life for the International Rally Trinidad event which was held just before this one and here we are again.

TTKA Race Day #1 2014

The Trinidad and Tobago Karting Association held its first championship event for this season on April 27 after several false starts during the first quarter of this year. Track conditions were ideal as the weather was warm and sunny in east Trinidad providing ideal racing conditions for competitors at the ARC. There were two fully subscribed classes competing but the protagonists in attendance had a wonderful day of competitive action.

Rally Trinidad 2014 – Sunday (Day 3)

Neil Armstrong and Barry Ward are carrying the 10th Anniversary Rally Trinidad trophy home to Barbados, just reward for the wholehearted team effort from everyone behind the Suzuki SX4 WRC project. After another perfect sequence of fastest times on the Snake and Jack and Jill stages on Sunday, they rounded off the weekend by winning the Mayor’s Cup 4wd trophy at the hastily but well-arranged SuperSpecial at Preysal.

Rally Trinidad 2014 – Saturday (Day 2)

Ten out of 10! That’s what Neil Armstrong and Barry Ward achieved on the Bronte and Cedar Hill stages in the south of the island to lead the Trinidad & Tobago Rally Club’s (TTRC) 10th Anniversary Rally Trinidad 2014 by more than three-and-a-half minutes at the end of day two. All did not go entirely smoothly, however, as a damaged engine mount on the Suzuki SX4 WRC needed some attention during the day, with the service crew ready to replace it overnight.

Rally Trinidad 2014 – Friday (Day 1)

Expectant rally fans packed into the National Stadium last night as the Trinidad & Tobago Rally Club’s 10th Anniversary Rally Trinidad got under way . . . the spectator areas were full to overflowing, with many family groups in attendance, as were the Shell Helix VIP and STAG A Man’s Beer liming areas.

All the ingredients of top-flight rallying were on display – close competition, sideways superstars and even a daring demo by local hero John Powell, sidelined from the main competition through injury. To the surprise and delight of all, Powell (with regular co-driver Nick Telfer) drove his old Group A Shell Helix Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX on a spirited demonstration run peppered with donuts and four-wheel drifting; now owned by Reezan Mohammed, the car has not competed since 2012.

Rally Trinidad 2014 hours away

The friendly face and welcoming camaraderie of Caribbean motor sport has been much in evidence this week, never more so than on Wednesday, as competitors, support crews, friends and family gathered at MoSportt Bar & Grill in Caroni for Scrutineering and the Drivers Briefing for Rally Trinidad 2014.
Many still had much to do, particularly those from overseas, as they prepared to help the Trinidad & Tobago Rally Club (TTRC) celebrate the 10th Anniversary of its premier event. While the 24 special stages between tonight’s opening ceremony at the National Stadium and Sunday’s Grand Finale at Saith Park, Chaguanas, offer the motor sport challenge, even getting to the start line has presented issues for some crews!
