Drag & Wind #3 2014
With the staging of this first event, with the new course layout, and the new system of classifying cars, we all know that there are rough edges to be polished out. With change comes these hurdles that WE all shall work together to tidy up. A special thank you to all who made the effort to come out for this Event at such short notice and we are convinced that our next Event, carded for 25th May will be even bigger and better.
Drag and Wind #3
Great entries, as good a spectator attendance as we can hope for at this venue and the gradual improvement of organization in an ever evolving environment. Two major areas we focused on were to increase spectator covered-bleacher accommodation, and this we did but…. was still shown to be wanting more. And gaining access to the cleared area to the South for more parking. In both instances we were dragged on until the last minute to keep our word, but we persevered and delivered in the end.
Drag & Wind #1 2013
ARA (AutoSport Racing Association) has successfully completed its first D&W Event (and the first MotorSport Event in T&T) for 2013, with a fairly large turnout of spectators with over 60 competitors despite being on the same day as Panorama semifinals.
Drag & Wind #5 2012
Drag & Wind #5 was successfully executed on Sunday 24th June at ARC Car Park. We always speak of the mix of competitors and cars that can and have been able to participate in this type of Event. And another major plus, is, in spite of Rain, the event goes on. When there is just too much we do shut down the timing system for safety and to avoid damage to the electronics, but the major issue is the delay that inevitably occurs.
Drag & Wind #4 2012
As the AutoSport-promoted Drag and Wind(ing) Events continue to attract the best combination of Competitors, Spectators and Sponsors, the organizers are starting to see a very interesting trend in performance. Not daunted to stage Events at the compact Arima Race Course Car Park, which incidentally is also home to Karting and Solodex Events, it can be clearly seen that innovative thinking can always surpass any hurdle encountered.
Drag & Wind #3 2012
We must comment on the classification of cars in our D&W Championship competition. We now have a very good indication of times being run by most competitors, and can clearly see who should be in the A Class, and who should be in B. This, after deliberately NOT declaring any breakout limit at the last Event.
Autosport Drag and Wind 2 – Time Attack
D&W # 2…. The challenge… to run successfully…. without a PA system. The result, an unmitigated YES, successfully completing the full range of competition in all classes, and still having the bonus of competitors freeing up themselves in the fun runs, and the DWO Team celebrating their successes as outright winners in GT3 and GT4 by putting down their own specialty of a free-style display of what drifting is all about.
Autosport Drag and Time Attack 4
FIAT provided their sporty Fiat Bravo 1.4 Turbo to run in competition, ably driven by Solodex multiple-Championship winner, Devendra Nath. And this he did in style pushing the showroom-stock Fiat around the course to the delight of the many patrons, and surprise of the competitors. With a little suspension tweaking and a minimum of more competitive tyres, Devi is convinced that this can be a sleeper with winning potential.
